Meet Our Wayleave Team Leader
As Zzoomm is expanding to different market towns this year, our wayleave team is growing! We spoke to one of our wayleave team leaders, Joanne, to get to know more about the Wayleave roles at Zzoomm and she also gave some advice if you want to apply.
- Can you tell us about your role?
Wayleaves gives permission for utilities to be put into a property/land owned by someone other than the public highways agencies. To succeed one needs to have a customer service mindset and being able to speak to people to get to the right place in an organisation to allow these permissions to be granted it is vital to the role.
- What does an average day look like for you?
It differs daily, one day we are out walking delivering leaflets, the next we are speaking to the MD of a Managing Agent and providing legal documents to be signed to following up on letters we’ve sent. There is never a dull day and always something to do. Planning has to be our best friend. We will have a plan to go delivery wayleaves, visit occupants to discover landlords details, speak to people about granting access in front of their house. If there is a good plan and we execute it well we'll have success as a team.
- What’s it like working for Zzoomm?
Amazing. It’s like having an extended family in your working life. Everyone is very helpful, and we all get on with what we need to do, and there’s time for a laugh during the day. We get the job done together as a team. We support each other.
- Why might someone want to come and join the team?
We are innovative, diverse, and fun to be with, we work hard, play hard and enjoy each other’s company and support. We may be miles apart, yet we are there for everyone at the drop of a hat we will make the time for each other and support each other. No one gets left behind.
- What advice would you give someone thinking of applying?
Take the time to look at your experience and what you have done in the past. The role is a challenging one and the need for determination to get results is a must-have. Understanding people and how they respond to situations is necessary as we work with human beings on a daily basis and it is all about getting as much information in a way that they are happy to help us and not asking us to leave them alone because we are bugging them. This is their property/land, it’s a role where you need to have your feet on both sides of the fence, one for Zzoomm and one for the customer. Understanding their needs can help us get the job done.
We are currently recruiting Wayleave Team Leaders and Wayleave Officers in Crewe, if you are interested in the role and want to join Zzoomm please see the jobs below:
