International Women's Day 2023
Happy International Women's Day!
It is a day to celebrate the achievements of women and raise awareness for the fight towards gender equality. In honour of this year’s theme of ‘Embracing Equity,’ we reached out to the founder of our ‘Women in Zzoomm’ programme Kate Rennicks Jacklin, to learn more about the initiative. Where women work makes all the difference and that’s why we want to continue to inspire more women to join the Telecoms industry.
"At Zzoomm, we strive to create an environment that attracts the brightest and best female talent to enrich our status as a rapid-growth challenger ISP—where people with different backgrounds and experiences can look to Zzoomm and feel confident that they can thrive. We continually work to ensure that women in Zzoomm are able to fulfil their careers to their fullest potential, whatever that might be."
Kate Rennicks Jacklin, Founder of 'Women in Zzoomm'
Our industry has historically been very male dominated and here at Zzoomm, the same is true. At my final interview for my current role, I was asked by our Chief Operating Officer how I could help with balancing our gender bias and the fact that it was even being discussed made me think ‘what a great company this must be to consider that question even before I am employed’. Almost a year later, while our diversity statistics are still industry standard, I have been able to develop and manage a full programme called ‘Women in Zzoomm’ to understand why our gender balance is not better, what the causes are and how we can improve it and 2023 will see us implementing a host of initiatives aimed at recruiting more women, supporting our women better and tackling difficult issues such as unconscious bias.

How we embrace equity
The hard work we put in will lead to tangible benefits both women and men, therefore I am delighted to be able to work on something like 'Women in Zzoomm' that will really make a difference to the lived experiences of women in our industry.
